In 2009 I decided to take my talents of analyzing the Vancouver Canucks top to bottom and decided to cover the Phoenix (now Arizona) Coyotes first as a blogger and then as a full time beat reporter on my AZ Vibe.com websites (ASU and MLB coverage for a time too). It was my goal to build a start up from my NHL writings and I almost did that. Within a few years I built my site from nothing to over 500,000 unique visitors a month and added a secondary NHL site during that span.
Fast forward to today.
My AZ Vibe domain has since been hijacked so I started this site to continue my writing on a dedicated site on a part time basis. I don’t have to worry about marketing, advertising, interviews, podcasts, video interviews, practices, travel, server administration, search engine visibility anymore (which took up a ton of time) I can just write.
I’m also no longer doing the beat reporter thing, and moved to the right coast so for the first time ever so I’ll be applying a different perspective to my writing.
My approach to my writing is analysis of new stories as well as focusing on the hot button issues from around the league. I write and say the things that most reporters won’t talk about.
